causaLens is looking for an HR Operations Manager who will partner closely with all teams across our growing organisation. As our new HR Manager, you will play a key role in providing full life-cycle HR support to the causaLens business, owning the culture and values, HR Operations function, staff development and more.

Reporting to the Finance & Operations Director, this is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious manager to strategically align the People Operations function with the demands of our growing business.

Job Description

Day to day:

  • Day to day management of People Operations function including all aspect of the employee life-cycle

  • Dealing with HR related staff enquiries as they arise

  • Maintaining all employee records and contracts

  • Processing all onboarding and offboarding of new starters/leavers in UK and US

  • Management of the causaLens Induction process for all new recruits

  • Improving and maintaining the appraisal process

  • Implementing behavioural and culture initiatives and a staff Wellbeing programme in conjunction with the Operations Manager

  • Assessing and planning for employee career development opportunities

  • Overseeing of all time and attendance records, including the Timesheet tool used by the business.

  • Ownership of all aspects of the Visa Sponsorship programme, ensuring causaLens employees and candidates feel safe and supported through the visa application and renewal processes

  • Responsible for all Right to Work processes, checks and documentation

  • Management of all Background Checks on employees

  • Assisting the Recruitment Team where required

  • Supporting the payroll process monthly and liaising with any amendments to basic pay including statutory payments (Parental Leave, Statutory Sick Pay etc)

  • Dealing with grievances and implementing disciplinary procedures in line with company policy

  • In conjunction with the Operations Manager, planning and running staff engagement events monthly

  • Working closely with the Operations Manager on H&S policies and procedures.


  • Improving, implementing, and administering human resources policies and procedures

  • Management, analysis, and communication of key people data

  • Providing advice and coaching on all employee matters including, organisational development, performance reviews, benefits, employee relations, etc

  • Consistently embody causaLen’s company values

  • Maintain a deep understanding of the business and culture to enable the provision of a strategic HR partnership to the business leaders in respect of recruitment, retention, performance improvement and wellbeing strategies.

  • Partner closely with the broader Operations team (Recruiting, Finance, Legal, etc.) to ensure our people processes, and systems align with our business goals

  • Act with the employee experience top of mind, continuously seeking feedback, inefficiencies, and maintaining business relationships based on trust and respect

  • Promoting equality and diversity as part of the culture of the organisation

  • Helping to build and promote causaLens as an employer brand and promoting careers in Data Science and causal AI.

  • Ensuring the business is adhering to relevant employment legislation

  • Benchmarking and assessing market labour rates to keep competitive

Person Specification

This role would suit an energetic, proactive, enthusiastic individual looking to expand on their knowledge and experience within Human Resources and People Operations.

Experience working within a technology start-up is essential, and candidates demonstrating that they can bring both fresh thinking and related experience will be welcome.

We are looking for someone with the following attributes:

  • ideally 3-5 years in a similar role

  • CIPD accredited or working towards a qualification at level 5 or equivalent experience

  • Always curious and looking for ways to improve and automate what we do

  • Strong planning capabilities and ability to work to deadlines and prioritise

  • Good presentation skills

  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills

  • Current and up to date knowledge of general HR processes and procedures.

  • The ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels

  • A proactive and flexible approach to ensure effective management of own workload

  • A thorough understanding of current employment and immigration law, including Brexit changes, Visa Sponsorship and Right to Work

  • Highly confidential with solid ethics and sound judgement

  • Strong IT skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint

  • A good sense of humour and approachable nature

  • Comfortable working in an active and busy environment

  • There is a strong can-do mentality across the company which this role needs too. As the role-holder is the only permanent HR resource, the role can be strategy one minute and updating records the next.
